The birthplace of William Shakespeare, Stratford-upon-Avon, is a medieval market town in the West Midlands of England. Rich in architectural heritage, there’s lots to do and see in Stratford! Lucky for you, our Stratford-upon-Avon bus tour will take you around the city, providing you the opportunity to hop on and off at any of our 11 stops across the city! Explore the city at your own pace and choose between the 24-hour or 48-hour ticket.
Our first stop is Shakespeare’s Birthplace – William Shakespeare’s childhood home. Learn about Shakespeare’s early life and the impact he had on literature in the past and even today. Hop back on to the bus when you’re done and head to Shakespeare’s New Place. This was the house that he lived in later in his life and eventually died in. A beautiful garden has been designed on the site which displays sculptures inspired by his writing.
Don’t forget to hop off at the iconic Royal Shakespeare Theatre located by River Avon! Explore the area and take a stroll around Bancroft Gardens where you’ll find a beautiful area of greenery with a backdrop of the river. With a magnificent swan fountain, Gower memorial, beautiful flowers, and an array of statues, take in a breath of fresh air with the pretty sights.
Another iconic landmark is Anne Hathaway’s Cottage! Built more than 500 years ago, this is the family home of Shakespeare’s wife. This is where Anne was born and raised and is where Shakespeare would’ve visited her in the early stages of their relationship. With original furniture including Anne’s bed, you can wander through the house and the exquisite gardens inspired by Shakespeare’s plays.
Enjoy the views from our Stratford open-top bus as we head towards Maybird Shopping Park as our final stop! End the day with some shopping or grab some food if you’re hungry.
